I'm Sassy Stacey, model, brolly babe, promo girl. I am interested in most sporting activities, but motorsport is my favourite. It's in my blood, my Dad was into cars and bikes. He used to race Grasstrack bikes, both solo and sidecar and won lots of races and championships. (Photo of me with one of his trophies).
I was 7 when unfortunately he lost his life in a very tragic Motorbike accident. People often wonder how I can stand to be around bikes after what happened, but it keeps me close to him, as I know if he was still alive today, his interests would not have changed. Motorbikes can be very dangerous, but I feel when your time is up, it's up and we just have to live life to the fullest.
I remember sitting on his lap as a toddler and he used to let me help steer his bike, I loved it. I was 5 when Dad brought my Brothers and I our 1st bike a Yamaha PW50. He built a sidecar for it and we used to take all the kids for rides round the fields where we used to live. (See the photo of me sitting on my Dad's lap).
My Brother Liam used to race Motocross bikes and is thinking about getting back into it and my other Brother Kieran wants to get into Banger Racing. Most of my Family and Friends are interested in cars and bikes, so I've had great fun growing up. As well as getting into Bikes at an early age, I experienced driving (off road, of course) by the age of 9. (Check out the photo of my Brothers and me messing about for a family photo).
I feel the need for speed, my men have to feel it too, even my dogs love it, they like to jump on my lap and put their paws over the handlebars of my mini Motocross bike. It's nice because I have learnt to play quite rough for a girl and men don't normally mind me joining in, but of course I still love to dress up and be girly.
My work, well various people used to tell me I could be "one of those girls" I used to laugh it off, then one day I was asked to help promote a bike company and it all started from there. A friend took a few photos of me and sent them into to Superbike magazine. I was shocked when they were published, but the buzz I got from seeing myself in a national magazine, made me want to pursue this career. My Mum was very worried at first, as she thought people might say bad things about me, but now she gets to see what I do and supports me, she loves it. I think if she could have had a go when she was younger, she would have. (Check out the photo of my Mum and me together, I think she's a natural).
So far, I've really enjoyed myself. I get to meet and work with lots of interesting people, travel to many places and race circuits, work at various studios, shows and events. I also get the chance to see what goes on behind the scenes, I feel this helps me understand more about the Industry.
During my career I have taken part in a few competitions. Working at the Fighterama bike show in Germany, I was picked to take part in a beauty contest. This involved dancing on stage in front of over 3000 people, who voted for me to win the title Miss Fighterama 2003. I had to model on the shows best bike in a live photo shoot and I was interviewed by bike magazines and television companies from all over Europe.
In 2004 I won the title MCN Babe. Thousands of girls entered and the general public voted for the top 100. All 100 girls appeared at the MCN bike show in London. We walked a catwalk and were interviewed by Jamie Whitham and had a live photo shoot.
At the Streetfighter bike show in Sheffield, I decided to have my own stand, which was a great experience. Whilst at the show, I entered the Miss Streetfighter 2004 competition. I was interviewed and had to dance on stage. I was thrilled to win runner up.
Yes that was me, streaking the grid of BSB at Brands in October 2005. I didn't just do it for fun, I did it for charity, you can still make a donation, so please help the following charities RIDERS FOR HEALTH and THE CHRIS JONES MEMORIAL FUND. Thanks.
I have been very lucky as Portsmouth Honda presented me with a Direct Access Voucher from 1st Castle Motorcycle Training. Also Portsmouth Yamaha kitted me out with all my bike clothing. I managed to pass all my tests 1st time, which I am very proud of. May 2005 I passed my Motorcycle Theory Test, June 2005 I passed my CBT, Then in July 2005 I Passed my Direct Access, So I now have my full bike licence.
March 2006 I got my 1st bike, an R6, so I am a real biker chick now, not just a model who can sit pretty on one !
In May 2006 I was auctioned off to help raise money for Breast Cancer, someone has paid £700 for me to pose on their bike.
September 2006 I decided to get rid of my R6 and I got a Suzuki DRZ400 Supermoto as they are wicked fun to ride. I had a go on one and was hooked, felt so naughty riding it on the road and I had the biggest grin, so decided that I had to have one.
It's been a wonderful experience and if it all comes to an end tomorrow, I would miss it, but at least I could say what a great time I've had.
